The Generation Dance

For generations, people have taken part in the wedding tradition and joined together as one. And what a better way to bring together generations of married couples than with a special dance for them on the dance floor. The genration dance is typically a dance that takes place during a reception or anniversary and is for all the couples who have been married for longer than one hour. Once it is figured out that the bride and groom are part of this special dance, everyone is welcome to come to the dance floor if they have been married for longer than the bride or groom. Then all those couples are encouraged to dance until the emcee announces increments of years, at which point if your number is called you must leave the dance floor. As the couples thin out and slowly leave the dance floor, the emcee interviews a few couples who remain on the dance floor. This process continues until there is only one remaining couple left standing on the dance floor. According to plan, this couple should be the couple who has been married the longest. Often times the couple is asked to provide words of encouragement for the bride ang groom. Sometimes the newlyweds will give a gift (ie. grandfather clock) to the couple in honor of their strong marital bond. Also, a special dance, called Mixing Of The Magic, may be performed in which each of the couple will dance with the bride or groom in hopes that some of their magic will mix with them and provide good luck.

A Generation Of Dancers Taking The Dance Floor

Three are several songs and styles of music that may be played during the generation dance. While the generation dance is just for those married, the music selected certainly doesn't have to be. Often, the best song selection for the generation dance is one that brings back the memories for those dancing and at the same time signifies the beauty of the bond of two persons together for those who aren't. Anything from classical to contemporary to rock and roll could be used, but it would probably go best with a classic love song that you might hear on a oldies or decades station. Whatever song selected, you can rest assured that Digital DJz will provide the best in entertainment and offer those services on a professional level.

We have included a list of some of frequently used or popular generation dance songs below and we encourage our clients to go over the list and then look for them in our on-line database, listen to them, and decide whether or not that specific song is right for their needs. And if the song isn't and we don't have the song that they seek, we encourage them to contact us with their song suggestion or requests and we will work at getting that song in our database in time for their wedding reception.
