The Prelude

As with any wedding, tradition is what you make it and as with most weddings the beginning is traditionally considered the prelude. The prelude is generally the time when guests arrive, the clergy make their way toward the congregation area, and any pre-wedding things are taken care of, like lighting the candles or preparing the church. As well, some wedding planners choose to offer beverages and light snacks and a short social period before the wedding for family and friends to re-unite and mingle. Yet, some planners view the prelude as just the initial time before the ceremony and choose to reserve that time specifically to seating and the arranging of the bridal party.

Two Attendees Light Candles Before A Wedding Ceremony

The music played during this part of the ceremony is often times light in nature and may be classical to contemporary soft rock, but usually is not something that will cause the invitees to get anxious. Most times, classical instrumental is chosen as the music of choice for contemporary weddings in large church halls while another style of music might go best with smaller-scale weddings.

We have included a list of some of frequently used or popular prelude songs below and we encourage our clients to go over the list and then look for them in our on-line database, listen to them, and decide whether or not that specific song is right for their needs. And if the song isn't and we don't have the song that they seek, we encourage them to contact us with their song suggestion or requests and we will work at getting that song in our database in time for their wedding ceremony.
