The Pre-Processional

Traditionally a wedding ceremony is a time for friends and family to celebrate the union of two persons. A pre-processional is the time before a wedding ceremony in which those friends or family are walked to the front of the church, usually by ushers. As well, any last minute preparations take place and behind the scenes the bridal party begins to be lined up for their debut. Sometimes this special seating is reserved only for close friends, family members and other honored guests who are not part of the official wedding party but hold a significant place in the hearts of the engaged couple.

An Usher Walks A Family Member Down The Aisle

Typically, the music for this portion of the wedding is something melodius and classical or perhaps contemporary but soft. On occasion, couples choose to honor those being walked down the aisle with upbeat and commemorative songs or sometimes planners choose to include romantic music to direct the attention of guests toward the event at hand. Still yet other times, the music from the prelude is continued through to the pre-processional and both are thus intertwined.

We have included a list of some of frequently used or popular pre-processional songs below and we encourage our clients to go over the list and then look for them in our on-line database, listen to them, and decide whether or not that specific song is right for their needs. And if the song isn't and we don't have the song that they seek, we encourage them to contact us with their song suggestion or requests and we will work at getting that song in our database in time for their wedding ceremony.
