The Processional

A wedding ceremony marks the end of a old experience and the beginning of a new one, thus bringing together close friends in the process. The processional is the time in which the closest of friends and the guests of honor walk down the aisle toward their places during the ceremony. The processional is the first entrance of the bridal party and may include immediate family members, groomsmen, bridesmaids, a ringbearer, a flower girl, a best man, a maid of honor, the groom (this is optional; most grooms enter and remain at the front of the congregation throughout the processional) and, of course, the bride. The bride is traditionally escorted by her father who "gives" her away to the groom before everyone in attendance.

A Father Walking His Daughter (The Bride) Down The Aisle

The music for this portion of the wedding is typically something along the lines of classical and often times is something momentus, thus marking the entrancing of the bride. Sometimes, a seperate piece is played for the bridal party entrance than the bride's entrance but this often is relegated to the duration of the walk to the alter. In today's weddings, planners sometimes choose upbeat and entertaining songs or romantic, significant songs in which the bride and groom feel most attached. Once everyone has made their way to the front of the aisle and the bride's father has taken his seat, the processional is complete.

We have included a list of some of frequently used or popular processional songs below and we encourage our clients to go over the list and then look for them in our on-line database, listen to them, and decide whether or not that specific song is right for their needs. And if the song isn't and we don't have the song that they seek, we encourage them to contact us with their song suggestion or requests and we will work at getting that song in our database in time for their wedding ceremony.
