The Dollar Race

As mentioned earlier on the dollar dance page, weddings can be very strapping times for any newly married couple. More often than not, people put a large chunk of their savings into their wedding day and after the event can find themselves on a tight budget. And while guests usually come to weddings bearing gifts, sometimes the money just seems like it would be better spent on something else. Well, this point brings us to the dollar race, which is an alternative to the dollar dance. The dollar race is typically suggested for those who don't wish to drag out people to a long stint on the dance floor and would rather capture that same idea but in a much faster paced scenario. The dollar race begins with an announcement that the bride and groom are about to compete, but for what they do not yet know. Then it is asked that anyone who wishes to give a monetary donation to the them (ranging from 1 cent to infinity) may do so by raising one of their hands holding that said money. Now, the bride and groom have one song to race around the room hugging guests for loot, but the money must stay in their hands. By the end of the song, they must return to the designated area. The newlywed with the most money wins, but what they win is kind of our secret...

A Bride & Groom Racing Each Other For The Coveted Title

Most any style of music will work well with the dollar race, but the most fitting style of music would be an upbeat and entertaining style. A song that exemplies money or that convinces people where the party is should be the dollar race type of song. However, a nice, slow and romantic song would go over well for the the dollar race if it reflected the bride and groom nicely. As well a nice, slow song might be chosen in situations where the bride and groom are not interested in moving too fast but would still like to compete for the coveted dollar bills. Whatever song or style selected for the dollar race, Digital DJz are prepared to handle the situation and make the dollar race an event that will last in everyone's memories.

We have included a list of some of frequently used or popular dollar race songs below and we encourage our clients to go over the list and then look for them in our on-line database, listen to them, and decide whether or not that specific song is right for their needs. And if the song isn't and we don't have the song that they seek, we encourage them to contact us with their song suggestion or requests and we will work at getting that song in our database in time for their wedding reception.
